Holiday Parade, Saturday
The Holiday Parade will be kicking off at 11:00 am this Saturday, November 9th. The streets will be filled with festive holiday music, floats, balloons & cheer, presented by Maple Hill Auto Group. Rumor has it that Mr. and Mrs. Clause will be on the Mall from 1-2pm! Visit here for more information.

Loaves and Fishes Food Drive
Looking to make this the biggest one-day food drive yet! On November 9th, we will be collecting non-perishable items during the Holiday Parade. Meijer has provided shopping carts that will be pushed by volunteers to collect donated items during the parade. Click here for more information.

Collected Stories 

The thought-provoking drama, “Collected Stories” written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Donald Margulies, will continue running at Farmers Alley Theatre, with the last show scheduled for November 17. Michigan Festival of Sacred Music
This bi-annual festival takes place in and around downtown Kalamazoo, including the Library and our beautiful, historic churches surrounding Bronson Park. The diversity of offerings is what makes this a wonderful festival, with a selection from almost every tradition. Check their website for more details.

Theo & Stacy’s 40th Anniversary
The downtown location of Theo & Stacy’s will be celebrating 40 years of happily serving Kalamazoo great food. Classes at the Civic Theatre

Safe Halloween, October 26th 
The city’s annual Safe Halloween offers families a free and safe way to enjoy Halloween. It is a day time event with three different locations; The Kalamazoo MallBronson Park and the Kalamazoo Valley Museum each hosting loads of fun including arts and crafts, entertainment, a costume parade, and of course plenty of candy! Kick off starts at 11 and ends at 4 pm.

Fancy Pants Theater Presents a New Show
Kiss of the Spider Woman will be presented at the Fancy Pants Theater on October 25th. The show will be running for seven days, Oct. 25, 26, 27, 31, and Nov. 1, 2, & 3, so be sure not to miss out! For more information about Kiss of the Spider Woman, visit the Fancy Pants Theater website.

Holiday Parade Volunteers 

We need 100 volunteers every year to keep the Kalamazoo Holiday Parade running smoothly, so join us in this fun and easy way to spread the holiday spirit. Most of these jobs are one-day commitments, so come wrangle, carry, distribute or greet. Visit here for more information.

Bronson Children’s Hospital Walk & RunBronson Children’s Hospital Walk & Run, formerly known as the Walk Across Kalamazoo, is picking up speed this year. Michigan Beer Film Premier, September 14

Don’t miss the premier of the Michigan Beer Film, crafted by downtown’s very talented Rhino Media Productions. The film, funded in large part through a successful Kickstarter campaign, documents the trials and triumphs of Michigan’s brewers…arguably among the most talented in their industry. Kzoo Uncaged
There There are some amazing people in Kalamazoo doing really awesome things, and Kzoo Uncaged is highlighting a few of those who are making this a cool place to fall in love with (not surprisingly, there are numerous downtown connections in their stories already). Gilmore Rising Stars, September 15
Macau-born pianist, Kuok-Wai Lio, will perform as part of The Gilmore’s Rising Stars series at 4 PM this Sunday at the Wellspring Theatre. Not sure about a piano recital? You won’t find a more approachable venue, and you can always test the waters by listening to a recent performance at The Gilmore’s website. This is a highly-recommended performance.

Hayes to Reinvest Downtown

The Hayes family has been selling cars in downtown Kalamazoo since 1938, and now they are building a brand-new Mercedes showroom. The result will be a reinvigorated west end, including their new neighborsPedal Bicycles and Gonzo’s BiggDogg Brewery, opening this fall. See more about their investment in this MLive article.
